Generative Clock (2023)

Digital Art, 2023

This work is a media art that redefines the “clock,” a tool for checking time, as “a medium for experiencing the reality of living on the earth here and now. Interactive Installation, 2023

This work is AI interactive art in the form of shadow play. The viewer holds his or her hand up to the light to create a shadow, which the AI interprets and generates an embodied image. On the screen, there is a double existence of a real shadow created by the viewer’s body and a virtual shadow created by the AI. For the viewer, the boundary between the two is blurred, giving rise to a new sense of reality. Read More…

Cognitive Limitation (2023)

Digital Art, 2023

A media art work that considers the limits of human perception. The work is a picture of an “eye” when viewed from a distance, but when zoomed in, one realizes that different motifs such as mountains and oceans are written on it. 168 GPU hours were spent creating images with different micro and macro representations using a self-designed algorithm incorporating Stable Diffusion. This work takes advantage of the characteristics of generative AI, which is capable of very detailed writing. The work received an honorable mention in the first AI Art Grand Prix.

Statement

The evolution of technology is accelerating. However, technology by itself will not change society. Society changes only when the human mind accepts technology. For the first time in human history, we are living in an era in which the speed of change in people’s minds will determine the evolution of society. What is needed is a spirit of experimentation.

Technology and culture, city and nature, tradition and pop, chaos and order. Here in Tokyo, where everything is mixed and new things are continually being born, we seek a new relationship between the human mind and machines. Design is a solution, and art is an experiment. We do not know what will happen. We want to know what will happen. That is why we experiment.
